Comments: Dr. Carlson changed my life and never gave up on helping me.
I fell down the stairs 5 years ago and broke my foot. My foot wouldn’t heal like a normal break did. The calcium was gone in my bone on the X-ray. My tendon was also torn and I had nerve damage. I went through over 70 physical therapy sessions, 6 cortisone injections, acupuncture, and 6 PRP injections. Nothing seemed to help. Dr. Hesse (another helpful doctor) referred me to Dr. Carlson. We tried a 6 day trial of a spinal cord stimulator. 6 days later I told her that it didn’t work and that it wasn’t for me. Here is what I am thankful for… Dr. Carlson ordered an X-ray and realized the electrodes slipped down in my back. She said we could try the spinal cord stimulator again, and we did. I normally couldn’t walk more than 10-15 min. and I was walking past that- almost an hour. My foot is not 100% awesome but it is so much better than what it was. With my spinal cord stimulator remote control I can put it on low, if it’s a good day, medium, or high if it’s a bad day. My son who was 11 at the time said the biggest difference was after the spinal cord stimulator (was implanted) I didn’t cry everyday if that doesn’t say the change made a huge difference- I don’t know what does. I still have my challenges of inflammation and bad days and nights but I thank God I had Dr. Carlson who never gave up on helping me and improved my quality of life.
